Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at a photoshoot? Well keep reading if you want some juicy intel!





Bliss recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Selena’s Creations Boutique located on 1705 fort st., Lincoln Park MI. Selena’s designs focus on special occasions--from prom to Quinceaneras, there’s a variety of gorgeous and fashion-forward dresses to choose from.

Kelly Grace and Michelle Woolcott did a few various looks on each model that corresponded with their outfits and accessories. The important thing with styling, hair. and makeup is to make sure everyone is on the same page. Our overall concept was modern everyday glamour, with an emphasis on hair and makeup that’s trendy and fashion-forward. The models did an excellent job by being the perfect canvases! They were fine having four hands working on them all at once!

Kelly chose hairstyles that are approachable and flexible--something the everyday woman could be seen wearing when she’s going somewhere special. Although updo’s are beautiful, they don’t allow for much movement or ease of change during a shoot. By adding and changing accessories in the hair, like colored extensions, a look can be transformed seamlessly.

Michelle chose to go with makeup that included bright lips and dramatic eyes. She paid added attention to the brows as well, enhancing what was naturally there. A strong brow and lips are "in" for the spring season and are in many designer’s books of new trends. False lashes were also applied during the shoot. Again, simple things can be done to transform a look--changing a color and adding a different cheek color can make a huge difference. Whatever look a model needs, the main goal is to keep them oil-free and as blended as possible. Attention to detail is a must whether it’s hair or makeup.

Enter the world of Hair Extensions and False Lashes! It’s common to hear of celebs and models having extensions and falsies, and it's not uncommon to hear it openly discussed.

However, "Hi Suzzie. Is your hair fake?” isn’t a common type of dialog between coworkers, friends, family members, and acquaintances.

So I’m going to put it all out in the open for everyone so we can make it clear: I have Hair Extensions and frequently wear Falsies! Although my hair is long naturally, I’ve never had that va-va-voom volume and extra long length.





Thanks to the stylists here at Bliss, however, my hair worries are no longer! I can do everything I do with my hair while having extensions: Flat Iron, Curl, Blow-Dry, etc. Besides making my hair thicker, I’ve noticed I can hold curls longer. I also follow my regular shampooing and conditioning routine.

Now On to LASHES!

As a Makeup Artist, I frequently get asked what my favorite type of Mascara is, or general questions about lash enhancements/treatments/etc. My best words of advice: If you want to dramatically change the look of your lashes (and your overall look), have false eyelashes applied! It only takes a few minutes, and it won’t harm your natural lashes. It's also much more affordable than pricey lash enhancement treatments than can potentially have negative side-effects.

The best part about false lashes is that you can take them off and re-use them the following day or evening. If you take care of them (not sleeping in them or getting them wet), they can last for numerous applications. There are many options when it comes to lashes, but my favorite brand we carry is the Ardel “Whispies.” They add natural volume and aren’t too long. They are my go-to options for brides.

Salon Owner & Master Stylist
Lisa comes from a lineage of beauty enthusiasts, starting with her Grandmother. She is a certified Schwarzkopf Colorist and has over ten years in the beauty industry. Lisa is known for putting customers at ease in her chair while performing exceptional services. Her easy-going and positive personality make her quite popular not only with her clients, but her staff as well!

Caitlyn
Head Hospitality Coordinator

Stylist
Keri is a Pureology technical advisor, stylist, and So-Cap certified extension specialist. Her favorite Pureology must-have product is Miracle Filler, which falls into the “Perfect for Platinum” line; it’s a leave-in product that repairs chemically treated hair over 70% during the first use. Keri thinks that braids are a huge trend this season.

Stylist
Kelly is an experienced stylist having over four years of experience. She notes that hair tinsel and feather extensions are becoming an increasingly popular trend. The hairspray she can’t live without is Redken’s “Fashionworks.” It’s not sticky and has a light fresh scent. It’s a very wearable flexible hairspray great for people who want a natural look and touchable feel to their hair.

Master Stylist
In addition to being a Redken Master Specialist, Lauren is a certified So-Cap extension specialist. She can transform thin, drab hair into a luxurious, glamourous head of hair. She has over 8 years in the industry and recommends Redken’s “Guts” as an amazing root boost. Lauren’s great sense of humor combined with her impeccable styling skills make her a “to dye for” duo!

Jennifer S.
Salon Assistant
Looking for an amazing, pampering, shampooing experience? Look no further than Jennifer! She’s a specialist in relaxation; in fact, clients with headaches have claimed she makes them disappear! Nail Technician
Cheryl is a Nail Technician with over 16 years of experience. At one point, Cheryl was the number one national educator for Tammy Taylor. She has personally met with Tammy as a result of her success as both an educator and technician. Cheryl is a perfectionist at what she does, and will provide you with an un-paralleled service experience.

Connie
Nail Technician
Since 1995, Connie has worked as a Nail Tech. Pink and White nails are her specialty. She’s won numerous nail competition awards, and has been featured in the Chicago nail shows. Creative Nail Products are her product of choice. Come visit Connie at Bliss Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays!

Jennifer N.
Stylist
